Default M1 carbine stock - Inland?

Hello again community! Another question. I recently purchased this stock and hand guard on EBay from a seller (located in Illinois) who states it and many others were procured from Rock Island Arsenal at least 30 years ago, maybe much longer. According to them, the purchaser recently passed away but they have been in his possession the entire time.

Is this a real S.E. Overton (Inland) stock and handguard as the seller claims? It appears to have never been used or ever have had any metal hardware attached. Not sure how such a stock would fall into the possession of RIA anyway.

Also, type of wood?

Looking forward to your replies.

Its real but it isn't unused. The finish has been stripped. The Inland CC stamp was applied when the complete carbine was accepted by the Ordnance Department.
