Default Someone dressed this up as a USMC rifle for Halloween

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/842748387

Seller canít even get the 4th Marines battle history correct.

As a Marine Corps Drill Instructor would say, "Get it back and get it right!"

That stock must have been made for a BEECH landing.

Stock looks janky, as my kids would say, and the barrel is a bigger laugher than a barrel full of monkeys.

Ugh, that is just sad.

A barrel with fake markings and something that never existed. A serial that has about no chance of being Marine. The stock markings are fake.

It was probably done back in the day before so much info on these rifles was made public thru the internet.

But they ruined a really nice rifle by trying to make it something it's not.

I really want the seller to explain how a 1903 sent to the Marines in 1941 got assigned to the 4th Marine Regiment and landed on Guadalcanal.

Bubba forgot to drill the Hatcher Hole, but at least he got the wrench marks on the barrel, according to the seller's description. That should satisfy even the most discriminating collector and critic.

Um, I don’t see that? I also don’t see the punch mark in front of the serial number he referenced.

I’m guessing with the Guadalcanal history that they referenced has to do with not paying attention to dates in the history of the 4th Marines. Meaning, when the Marine Raiders were disbanded they formed the core of the new 4th Marines... so the old 4th fought in the Philippines, the Raiders fought on Guadalcanal, the Raiders became the 4th.... I can do this kind of math.

Weird thing is that this seems to come from the liquidation of a museum...

Provenance: The Texas Museum of Military History; ex. Sam Nesmith Collection

https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/visi...ectors-gallery

Kind of mad about the claims regards 4th Marines as those guys had been marched off on the Death March and the survivors were in POW camps.
