Default My New Springfield Service Grade

Hope you can see the pics. Besides being a Garand neophyte, I'm also decidedly non-techy. As I said in my new member intro, she's a beaut; a Feb 44 build with a Feb 44 barrel which at least offers the possibility that this is an original pairing. Once I broke her down a little bit, I can see that some TLC is in order. There was enough rust, especially in the trigger housing, to suggest it had been recovered from the Tenaru by Robert Ballard.
Bolt: D28287-12SA S-B7 <> 8620 steel
Oprod: D35382 9 S A Uncut
Trigger Housing: D28290-12-SA
Hammer: C46008-3 S A
Receiver: D28291-32
i didn't see any evidence it had undergone any depot rebuild other than anything the CMP might have done. I've started the process of cleaning it up and hopefully it will be ready to go by the weekend. Still debating the best approach to treating the stock and handguards.

Flickr requires that one sign in to see the pictures.

It is very likely that you have an original barrel/receiver combination. What are the Throat and muzzle readings listed on the CMP tag? A service grade rifle should not have rust. Is it possibly some staining? Once pictures are visible, more knowledgeable folks will be able to give you more precise information. Sincerely. bruce

2+ Muzzle, 3 Throat. It was a new CMP stock. I'll go back to the drawing board and try with Imgur so that you can see what I saw. I think it was clearly some rust. Philippine return perhaps.
