Default New from Northern VA

Man wish I had found this place earlier!! A ton of great info...learning.

Retired, 21 yr Army Armor MSG, Tank Mastergunner (M1/M1A2).

Looking for a nice Kimber for my 12 yr old and a couple of Garands for me!!

Thought about ruger 10/22, but man those Kimbers look nice!!

May be asking for some direct assistance from some very knowledgeable person that frequents the stores!!!

I am 10 minutes from Quantico, I know they have a bunch of shooting events there...

Anyway, will be looking around and getting schooled..unless some 105 or 120 actions come up, then I'm OK!!!

VFW Life Member and NRA member.

Default Hi from northern VA

Hi, I'm a bit north of you, about 40 minutes from Quantico, near Vienna/Oakton.

You should consider spending $425 on a Kimber 82G for your boy, when's he about 10 years older, he will really appreciate that rifle and its capabilities, IMO.

I have a few Garands, and sometimes shoot at Quantico. (Shot at the Vintage Sniper's match over Labor Day weekend in 2012, and had an off day....but I'll be back there next time they have that event). PM me if you want to meet up at a range sometime, I'll bring a Garand or two with me.

I believe I will do that!!...

Wonder if I should just take a chance and blind order or if I should reach out to a local around one of the stores and have them pick one out..

Meeting would be awesome!!! I really need to bone up on M1s..are there any good ranges around?

Dont know why I waited so long...hope I can still get onto a few good one's if there are some left..

Mailorder will get you a great shooter, but may get you one with a ugly cut in the wood, if you can live with less than perfect wood then go for it,, if you decide to have one picked out for you, Magna 85-86 is going again before xmas, he picks for lots of people and has a great rep

I commissioned someone to select an M1 for me, and I was very happy with the result. Got exactly what I wanted. PM majorfa. Very reasonable charge, quick service, pleasant to deal with.
