Talking New "Old" Guy !

Howdy Boys and Girls! Finally got around to fillin out all those little blocks you have to do to sign up and become a member here on the forum! I've been a shooter and a hunter for the biggest part of my 65 years, and have been in love with the M1 since I was a kid. As a Naval Aviator, I got up close and familiar with it in AOCS (Aviation Officer Candidate School) and it and I spent many, many hours learning the Manual of Arms :-). Now in my retired days I find myself looking back fondly on those days, so much so that a few weeks ago I mailed in all the required stuff and money for a Special Grade in .308 caliber. Just today I received an email from Holly with my number and confirming they had everything needed. Now I'm as excited as can be, and I'll be counting the days til I have her in my hands.
Soooo , I'm pleased as punch to join y'all, and look forward to the education I'm hoping to get!
Ps. What do you guys think, will I be getting it by Christmas?
Pps. Best place for bulk ammo??

Welcome. You're going to love your new Garand. I have one in .308 also and they are fun to shoot. A little less recoil than the original 30-06 version. You can use a couple of popular ammo search websites to find a variety of ammo to feed your rifle. Try Ammoseek.com and Ammoengine.com. You can also use Your favorite Internet search engine. The CMP sells some on the e-store too.

Congrats! You sound a lot like me. 30-06 at the CMP is about the best bet I've seen. AIM has some new and good PPU made especially for the M1:

Whoops! Didn't quite see that .308 was what you need. AIM also on that:

And Wideners, too: http://www.wideners.com/itemview.cfm?dir=18|830|848
I highly recommend the PPU in .308 when and where you can get it.
