Thanks guys - I think I'll either go with ordering a SA SG via mail or go get a special. What do you guys think - again, just for a shooter - is the special (with new barrel) that much better? Worth the extra $300?

They had some nice SG Specials there on Thursday (yesterday) and it's hard to go wrong with one. No SGs but some rack grades of all things (I found three). I'd look at those if you go just in case. Some had a MW of just over 1 and TEs of just over 2. For $475 as a shooter they would be great if any are left by tomorrow.

Aren't you worried your wife will find this website? Ha Ha Ha..Yep If I wanted a pure shooter right now I would do the Service Grade Special..Add correct wood later and have a correct grade JMHO

I have a wonderful wife who is very understanding. There is also a bead store in Oberlin that I told her we could perhaps stop at on the way back ...

The SG Specials will disappear in the near future, probably never to be seen again. They are correct rifles except for the stock. The Specials are built up from parts and are more likely to be around in the future.

The regular BRs are worth the money also if you have parts.

In the past the stock refreshing was done on Wednesdays, but lately with the stock being so thin, I think they're putting out what they can whenever they can.

I would highly recommend mail ordering at this point kraaash.
