When they are brand new, they can be hard to snap the first few times until the webbing stretches a bit. You can pull the male snap as tight as possible, then pull the female snap as far as you can get it. Then firmly roll the female snap shut on a hard surface. Once you get it shut, leave the bayonet in the sheath a few days. It will slowly stretch to shape, eventually it will not need to be rolled to shut.
