We just take snacks and drinks to hold us over and plan on a big dinner.

MRE's and bottled water work for me.

Seems like the CMP could arrange for a local caterer to come on base and sell meals to attendees, like they do for the Vermont/New England Games. $26 for 3 meals a day brought in, hot breakfast and dinner, and bagged lunch to take to the range. Food was excellent too. I think the Vermont State Rifle Assoc. that worked with the CMP and Camp Ethan Allen to put on the matches was the one that arranged the caterer. But why couldn't the CMP contact a local NC vendor to bring in food for the Eastern Games? The Army base rules would not allow for an outside civilian vendor to use the kitchen or food prep facilities, so everything was brought in cooked and hot, ready to go.
Makes it a little more enjoyable having convenient good food to eat!

Vermont is unique with quite a few shooters staying in base housing and restaurants a long way off. At Butner, the interstate business district with lots of restaurants is not far away and most of the shooters are in the motels there anyway. I'm not a fussy eater, but the catering at Vermont didn't make the grade when I ate on base. All of the Games venues are great, just different. Good Shooting. ..

Besides having a scope in case the electronic targets go down, is there any other reason to bring a spotting scope for the Garand match?

I take mine just because I'm used to having it on my shooting cart for High Power. IF...the targets work correctly I don't think there is much reason to have it for shooting only 200yds. I'm taking mine with me. Doesn't do much good sitting in the truck. just my .02
