Well, to be absolutely accurate with an answer to your specific question, it is a genuine stock for an M1A1... I mean it fits a M1A1... it does NOT fit an M-4 carbine or a Mini-14... but it was not manufactured in 1944.. looks like most of it was manufactured in 1994.... now that is about as honest as I can get in answering the question you asked... hope that helps

Typical seller disclaimer in opening sentence: "Up for auction is what I believe to be original U.S. WWII M1A1 .30 Carbine paratrooper folding stock"

which means he knows it is not a legit GI stock but let's pretend. By listing it under original WWII period items IMO he has created a fraud. If he had listed it just under gun parts then maybe we would not be reading this thread, just feeling sorry for the bidders.

And on that note, I have a six digit Inland in an outstanding genuine repro high wood M1A1 stock pictured below.

It's a reproduction in the same line as a CMP garand stock.
Functional but not period.

I am not an expert but I read a lot about m1 carbines. Everything I know about these, including the one I own says repro. But look at the bids. I know people can be fooled. I have been. But maybe there was something I didn't know. Oh well. Back to collecting.

"I purchased this from person that is 40 years old and he stated he used to play "Army" with it when he was a kid."

My brother, friends and I used to play army with brooms and hockey sticks (maybe a Daisy Red Ryder or two) back in the mid-1960's. Lots of Nazis were neutralized in those rigorous campaigns.

But a 40 year old? Who was he shooting at in the 1980s?

I feel old....

Is that a caulk gun which you "believe to be orginal"?

You may have a mini gold mine if you can still locate it.
