Vintage Sniper Rifles and Scopes - Leveling the Playing Field

Several of the non-US rifles allow non-issue scopes up to 4X, like Weaver K4s w/32 mm max. objective lens dia.

How about allowing non-issue Weaver K4 (32 mm max. objective lens dia.) on 1903A4s and M1C/Ds, as well as .303 cal. No. 4 Mark I (T) and No.4 Mk IIs with aftermarket Canuck Addley/Badace or Brit Armalon scope mounts, also.

There is no level playing field. The rules attempt to allow scopes similar to original issue. The USMC repros can have 8X scopes. Other rifles are limited to their original issue scopes so.... no 8X. This is a games match. Shoot the rifle you prefer. If your goal is to win, shoot a more capable rifle/scope, whatever that may be. Good Shooting......

Not all the other rifles are limited to their original issue scopes, and are allowed to use K4s.

I don't see any of them more capable than the 1903A4s or M1C/Ds, but are given an advantage by allowing for higher magnification K4 scopes.

Thus, leveling the playing field in that regard. We all know that the shooter is the key factor.

Besides issue scopes for the Enfields are hard to find.

Enfields and 03s can use the Weaver K2.5s if you can't find either an original or repro issue-type scope. These are closer to the original magnification than the K4, hence the rules allowing them but not the 4x.

I understand all that; 2020 DRAFT Games Rules. Table 7, pages 56-58.

If the Enfields and 03s can use the Weaver K2.5s as non-issue scopes why shouldn't the five non-US rifles, that can use the K4s as non-issue, be limited to the same Weaver K2.5s as the 03s and Enfields?

Because they had original scopes at 4x magnification. The ZF4 was 4x, the Ajack was 4x.

BTW - Can anyone recommend someone that's very good at restoring 03 stocks?

I have an A3 I picked up at the NS a couple years ago that has very nice metal, ME & TE readings (which I selected for) but a stock that needs some help.

Yep! If one wants 8X, it must be with the USMC repro.
