Default Loading .310 Bullets in 7.62x54R?

I recently obtained a Finn Mosin 91 that appears to be unfired. It has a mint VKT barrel. The Finn barrels were .3095 versus the Russian .311 and Iíd like to try .310 bullets. My RCBS sizing die has .308 and .311 buttons. The 308 is too tight and the 311 too loose. Anyone load .310 bullets for a Finn Mosin and how did you size your cases? An option would be to leave the sizing button out and use an RCBS .310 expander die but thatís an extra step. Redding doesn't make bushing dies for this caliber and Lee doesn't make a collet die either.

Are you using cast lead bullets? Lee makes some molds for the Russian, British, and Japanese cartridges that measure .312 as cast. They also have a wide range of very inexpensive sizing dies.

I have resized and installed gas caps, using a Lee sizing die set at .309 on 160 grain bullets cast from one of Lee's .312 molds.

I use the 308 expander without issue but I use boat tail or D166 bullets.

DITTO, on flat based bullets I put a 45 degree chamfer on the case mouth.

I've cast lead bullets for my trapdoor but nothing else. I'm going to try both .310 and .311 bullets and see which shoot the best. I agree the chamfer is important. I load more flat-based bullets than boat tails. I've got 3 of the Giraud 3-way trimmers and wish I'd bitten the bullet and bought the standalone as it has the ability to trim/chamfer anything I'm shooting these days. Thanks for all the advice!
