I have sent letter to get my C@R how will this help me a cmp when the 03s and the 03A3s come out?

It can be used to satisfy the marksmanship requirement.

Sorry bud but I can't quite figure out what you are trying to ask.

1. Good for you in sending for the 03FFL application. Now fill it out when it arrives...mail it in and then wait for you 03FFL. AKA Curios and Relics Collector License.

2. Along with some other criteria which must be met...you must have an 03FFL in order to purchase a rifle from the CMP. My guess is you already know that.

3. I thought 03's and 03A's were long gone from the CMP inventory of rifles available for purchase. But then again...perhaps I missed the news that another cache of them had been located. Good luck to you.

ETA Ah Ha...reading another post I see that indeed some 03's are likely to be available in the fall. Outstanding news...and by then you should be good to go...hope it works out for you and you can snag one.

This is incorrect. You don't need any sort of FFL to buy from the CMP AND have it delivered to your door.

+1 The FFL ( C&R ) is needed if you are having a gun sent from the seller ( dealer, etc. ) but NOT from CMP. I've never had a FFL of any kind and get all my Garands and carbines from CMP. They come on that LWT (Llittle White Truck ) right to my door.

The only thing a C&R license will do for you with the CMP is satisfy the "proof of marksmanship" requirement . . . and I don't even understand that. (The Requirements page seems to indicate this to be the case, but does one ever have to even SEEN a firearm to get a C&R?)

The other thing a C&R will do is give Big Brother a blank check to have legal access to information about your collection. To me, saving a couple bucks on that Aim Surplus Mosing Nagant is selling your privacy pretty cheaply. JMHO.

They already have that information.

Requirement is actually "firearms activity" these days.

No you don't. It does satisfy the "firearms activity" requirement, but so does, for instance, a DD214.

Wrong! That's a popular urban myth. There are folks who would like you to think that's true but, believe it or not, some of our laws still actually work.

(1) What do you think happens to 4473s after a dealer ceases operating?

(2) FBI has been frequently caught keeping NICS records for auditing purposes.

(3) The last time the ATF inspected my records, he retained a serial number list. Not sure of the legality of that.

Not much of a myth.
