Default WWII Ammo...

I picked up 5 en blocs of ammo marked DEN over 42, 43, 44.
Does anyone know who the manufacturer was?
Is there collector value?

Denver Ordnance Plant-Denver,Colorado.It is worth more as collectible ammunition than the shooting value. The two numbers are the last two digits of the year it was manufactured.

KRAG30-40,
Thanks for the quick response. I hadn't planned on shooting it. Just wondering what the value might be.

The clips may have collector value as well. Any marked WRA? The ammo is corrosive & requires the barrel be cleaned thoroughly right after shooting.

Go to http://www.ammo-one.com it's a good place to check retail prices on collectable ammo.

All the clips were marked BR-W over 3 or 4 which I believe is the Borg-Warner Co. They cleaned up pretty nice.

You see it at gunshows in the 5 to 10 range as a collectors item.Orion7 has original bandoleers of M1 clipped ammo with WW2 dates for $60.

Sir Miss Alot (LOL),
Thanks...that is exactly what I was looking for. My ammo is selling for $4.00 each.
Now, I have another question. My tips are painted black. Is this an indication of armor piercing ammo?

OK...I know the rule. "If there is no picture - it didn't happen" so here goes:

I had several hundred round of DEN 43 that was reloaded with modern primers, and a charge of less than the original.

The cases needed come cleaning before they were good to shoot. Some had fingerprints that the oils had tarnished the brass. I kept a few intact for collecting purposes.
