Default M1907 sling question-2 different dates/ inspectors

Hello all,
I recently purchased an O3-A3 and a M1907 sling was attached to the rifle. The sling is, IMHO, in “as issued” condition. What I mean by that is the leather is still in its buff/tan color and the blackened brass hooks have virtually no wear to them. The only negative to the sling is the one strap had something spilled on it and there are droplet discoloration marks on that strap.
I have two questions regarding the sling:
1) Is it unusual(or common) for the two straps, making up the sling, to have different manuf/dates/inspector stamps as seen in the photos attached? I realize that it IS possible for “used/issued” slings to have mis-matched parts, but for a virtually new sling to have this? Has anyone else observed this?
2) Being over 100 yrs old now, and since the sling has never been treated with any type of preservative/oil, would you apply anything to the sling to keep dry rot from affecting the sling. The downside would be the sling will be darkened from whatever is applied, but the upside would be preservation.
Any and all thoughts are welcomed!!

I suspect a hundred years ago this one was created from another sling that now matchs this one.

Yes, Richard Turner has stated sling pieces were commonly combined by the arsenals. Nothing was wasted.
As for treatment, I now personally use 100% pure lanolin cream very sparingly on an untreated sling. Available in health care sections of stores for breast feeding mothers.
