Default Barrel twist

Ok, I will be getting back my M1A back very soon. I had it upgraded after saving up for it. took a very long time. I want from a Load M1A to National Match. The barrel twist is 1:11, so what a good bullet weight for this twist? I'm thinking 168 gr.

thanks
Rob

Rob, 168 or 175 would do well.

Depending on the distance being shot, I use from 136 fb to 175 mk and all work extremely well in my Kreiger 1/11. I have recently begun using 1/10 on my precision builds and find they do well also. The trigger monkey seems to be a much more important factor than the barrel twist.

All the match ammo I fired in the M-14 National match rifle that was issued to me had 168 grain sierra match bullets. We were issued government match ammo as well as Federal match ammo, and were not allowed to use our own reloads.

When I reload for my own .308 rifle now, I use Sierra 168 grain match bullets and Accurate 2520 powder.
