Default CMP games. Matches and which to run and why

Question 1. As Issued Rifle Match. When should this match be run and what is the reasoning for this category?

2. Vintage Military: Can "sprinfields" shoot in the vintage match for score and awards?

3. why is the carbine a 40 shot format and not 30 or 50 like the others?

4. why cant the carbine be shot in the as issued match?

from the rule book:

1. GSV: Garand Springfield Vintage. These are three distinct matches. "As issued" is a category of essentially unaltered rifles that constitutes virtually all the shooters in these matches. A very small number of shooters will shoot "unlimited" category (within the Garand match).
2. No. There is a Springfield match. That is where they shoot (also in the Roosevelt match).
3. The M1 Carbine is a "different" type of firearm. CMP designed a unique match for the carbine. It is their game and they make the rules.
4. You are allowed to use the M1carbine in the CMP Garand match. You can also use the 1941 Johnson and IIFR, someone may have won the CP National Garand match with a carbine some years ago.
The Rules book is not particularly well written or easy to understand....I feel your pain. Good Shooting. ...

Arrgg...."as issued" is a category of rifles within a match. In a Garand match you can shoot an "as issued" or an "unlimited" rifle. All rifles are "as issued" in the Springfield, Vintage, Roosevelt and Carbine match(es). The Modern Military match has "as issued" and "other" rifles all together. Stop thinking there is any such thing as an "as issued" match. It's like calling it a "rifle" match. Good Shooting. ....

Thank you.... I get it.
Although why even have this little "as issued" thing at the top of the list.

Are the rules poorly written because of lack of knowledge of the shooting sport or lack of care.
