Any way you can post some pictures? That's an interesting one.

It falls into the SN range that was assigned to Springfield but then suspended. Clawson goes into some detail about who may have made them, why, and when. Some earlier ones (129,000-ish) were actually made by Colt in 1916. Others including yours could have been assembled from parts by Springfield in 1921. They have some unique features too. Interesting reading, but the fact is that they don't appear in any shipping records so I can't really tell you when it was made or even who made it for sure. I suspect that's why it has the sticker on the slide (believe that meant it was a museum gun).

Wherever and whenever it was made, the AA means it was rebuilt at Augusta Arsenal, probably in advance of WWII.

Additionally, SN 130710 shows up in SRS on 10/19/39, 130805 on 6/30/32, and 131,045 on 1/2/44 along with several others in the 131,000 range, all listed as "replacement frames".

Thanks Rapid. Nice to know I have a rare R.S inspector initial on my 1941 Ithaca/Colt. There are also his initials on the top rear of the receiver with the slide removed. The stamped initials are also enclosed in a box. What a great history lesson this forum has been. Jules

Greetings from GA and Thank You very much for your information. I just received from CMP Colt 1204758. Slide has two numbers stamped 779-0324 and 53397. Also has a RIA stamped on the receiver. Any info you could share would be great.

Frame originally shipped to Springfield between 4/19/44 and 4/28/44. It was rebuilt at Rock Island Arsenal probably just after WWII and stamped there. The slide is a USGI replacement (most are marked 779-0314) that it probably picked up during some later rebuild where no additional markings were applied.

On this one I can only tell you that it shipped from the factory in November 1944.
