So I bought mine from CMP.. and cmp has records? Or they destroy the tranaction after the sale? Even though I have the reciept with the rifle information, with the serial number on the reciept?

Any news clips of such an event?

Anyone have any proof anything has ever happen with someone stealing serials off the net?

Well if you are concerned about security, then what is the harm in not providing all of the serno. If it makes you feel better, then keep the XXX'ed numbers coming. Providing, or not providing the complete serno should be up to the individual. The last three numbers really are in-consequential to most collector topics.

I tend to agree.

I think this started with people buying used guns from sources they didn't trust.
