Oh, man. Should've gone for the 3" tubular steel stand. You dig a hole at each of your firing points and cement the sucker in there. You just have to drive around a cement truck as your range rig. Doesn't wiggle in offhand, nope, not one bit.

On a serious note, when my puny 1" stand wobbles in the wind, I calm the sway with my nose. This works great, and wobble with the 1" is not usually an issue. It's never an issue in sitting or prone, for me.

If strong wind is a possibility, I will take my heavy duty photo tripod with me for use in standing. More stuff, more weight, but it works better. If no wind when I get there, it stays in the truck.

if i were purchasing a new stand i would buy one inch. since this one is being made ground up for me why not 1.25. With the price of diesel its not practical to drive my cement truck and the concrete takes 3 relays to set

These folks are installing Loreman's offhand-proof, scope-holding piling. 36" diameter. It just takes a few minutes and can be done in prep.

Finally got the Konus 80mm. I think I'll be happy with that. Got a good deal on it from Optics Planet for about $165 with free shipping. For now I'll have to settle for a tripod stand unless I find a standard one on sale.
