An update. I received a very nice and prompt reply from CMP. They have run out of the tan, and are not sure they will order more. Original shipments went out in the black cases (which I did not know) and the tan cases were added later.

This is funny, my wife and I both sent packets in and she got the call about a month ago. And we ended up fighting more on who was going to keep the case than the 1911! LOL. She won both...........you know........happy wife, happy life.

Harbor freight sells their black Apache case, which is very similar externally to the CMP case. It's less expensive than the Pelican case. 20%-off coupon helps too. The latches are slightly different (easier, IMO).

I bought one to hold two of my 1911 clones and while I like the case, the foam leaves something to be desired. I might even paint it tan to match the CMP case.
I realize that paying for a different case isn't ideal. But the option is out there, if anyone is looking for a clone of the CMP/Pelican case.

I got a way different case than anyone else has posted. It is bigger than the others I've seen and very heavy duty. I'll post a pic shortly. My pistol was shipped last week.
