I detect a bit of smugness that remark that's uncalled for IMO but congrats to you. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all do that.

My membership with the CMP affiliated club I belong to (a wildlife club which is also the place I shoot) does not offer that option as far as I know or I would have used it. Because of their cost structure and the many programs they run to support the shooting sports they need my $200-$300 annual dues to keep going and for that reason they also do not offer Life Memberships. If they did it would have to cost thousands I guess. They do "bestow" LM I believe but the members that have them are way old and have been members since Moses was a pup.
They send out dues notices in late Dec for the next year.
I pay mine that same day & it goes out at the USPO that same day, not from my mail box. The club decides when we members get our gate codes and the collateral I need for proof of the qualification CMP requires and those mailings go out toward the end of the month all the years I've been part of this club. This is so that as many members as possible have the month of Jan to pay. As you can imagine the people that manage this element of my club are volunteers and overworked volunteers at that.

I do my best to work with the options I have. Since I'm not a collector I hate to pay for the GCA membership on top of the hundreds I pay in club dues just as as an insurance policy for a purchase in the occasional years CMP rolls out goodies in Jan.

Me too. I put a reminder in my Quicken program and another reminder in my iPhone calendar.

Use the modern scheduling medium to your advantage.

Bummer about your "club" timing situation. My sympathies go out to anyone in a like boat. Hope you can find a good alternative.
