Hope you will show some after pics. That rifle has tons of potential and your barrel is absolutely mint. That should have been a Service Grade

Beautiful. Now that it's cleaned up they were probably correct in making this a Field Grade, but you should be able to shoot well with that. The GI stock really completes it. I don't think it would look nearly as good with new a CMP stock set. Nice score on the correct lockbars and the GHS stock and the super new barrel.

My recent Field Grade holds the 9/10 ring pretty easily and I'm very happy with it. The barrel numbers are not nearly as good as yours though. You wanted a Gem and you found one.

How is the stock lockup?

I agree it looks sorta typical for a Philippine Return but I have found that most will clean up reasonably well and once you put a bit of elbow grease into the stock you might be surprised and like the color.
This also has the additional neat feature in that there is a Winchester out there somewhere with the same serial number.
