Default 303 Ammunition - Recommendations?

OK, I just bit the bullet and bought a non-US Military milsurp rifle, a Savage 303.

It IS marked "US Property", so it's a cousin. At least I'm keeping it in the family (it's a Southern thang ).

Now I need to lay in a stockpile of ammunition. Any recommendations on where to buy and what to buy?

Thanks!

Try ammoengine.com for who has what for how much, it is only a source-not an outlet. For reloading try ParviPatisan for startup ammo.

Just used www.ammoengine.com to buy some 303 British Privi Partisan from www.ammunitiontogo.com.

Thanks to both of you.

Hey Steelap, Was the Savage made in Utica NY? I live there and we had a Savage Arms plant down the road from me ( many years ago) It was about 10 miles from the still existing Remington Arms in Ilion NY.

From my surplus 303 ammo plunge i bought some POF and som british surplus. needless to say i have a lot of bullets to pull. A lot of the british stuff is loaded with cordite and the batch i got the primers were inert. the POF stuff is just crap. about 1 in 10 rounds go off. I would reload if you plan to shoot much. Aslo if you have with trouble with firing make sure tho check your headspace. A lot of the rifles came from places where QC was no the best when they refurbished them or made 5 rifles into 1. happy shooting.

I would say yes the original Savage plant was in Utica. I was in Illion this past July went through the Remington plant. My mom's home town is Herkimer, i have family there also. Small world Sschrad.

If you want to go the reloading way, 7.62X54R (0.311") pulled bullets are available for approximately $90/1000. I have some loaded but have not gotten a chance to try them yet.
