At 8:30 AM Wednesday when I arrived, the always helpful staff indicated that they have "LOTS" of this M855 sitting in the back room, packaged and priced as above. They were so happy to sell some that they volunteered to wheel my two cans out to the car.

The PA108 or SAW can is used only for the configuration shown: four SAW ammo drums. It will hold a case of Aguila .22 or a thousand rounds of 5.56 in M-16 magazines (32 30rd and 2 20rd) fully loaded - but don't plan on running very fast carrying one.

FWIW, you man fit a M19A1 .30 can in the .50 can by removing the lid and stowing it beside the bottom part. There used to be an eBay seller who would sell a .30 in a .50 in a SAW can for $9 plus shipping. Aaah, the good old says (2008 or so).

I am surprised the one person with a real transferable M249 SAW are not at the CMP buying them out!

I just want some of the empty drums, I have the Alice pouches these fit in.

Ebay, they are all over. $9 to $12 bucks or so.

Local surplus stores have them too.

The green Alice SAW pouches are designed to hold one of the plastic "insert" drums

Dang it. Was there last week and wish I knew about it. I hate it when that happens.

cplnorton, yesterday (11/7) there were about a dozen shoppers in the store during the early morning hours and I was the only one looking at ammo. The others were scouring the racks of Garands. The guy behind the counter indicated that they had "lots" of this M855 on hand. He emphasized the "LOTS!". I don't think word has spread too widely yet so I'm guessing that unless they have a fire sale over Veterans Day weekend they'll have some next Wednesday. You can always ahead call to make sure.

FYI: If you're planning on buying more than a couple 800-round cans, bring some muscle. These are HEAVY beasts!
