Default US&S Thumb Safety

I've spent hours looking at pictures of US&S thumb safeties online. I've even had someone is is in the business give me an opinion on this. However, I still have my doubts as the internet doesnt have the best pictures available. It doesnt have the "vertical line" that most US&S thumb safeties have. However, I've matched it to an auction piece that claimed to be 100% original. Maybe someone here can put me out of my misery and tell me if it is or isn't a match to their picture or actual safety.

I've stared at that picture more than you can imagine. I cant make out enough detail to decide. Mine does not match up with any of the Remington Rand on coolgunsite.com.

I have made up my mind it is a US&S. You can rest easy and my headache should go away soon. Cheers!

I've stared at that one too. That one has about 11-11.5 diagonals, where mine has 10. It's possible that some of the reparkerization has filled one or more of the holes, ir different workers did things slightly different.

Yes I have counted them with a loop until my eyes wont focus. I think the stamping could easily have changed. I have counted as few as eight then seven. I find the bottom pic interesting too. The diagonals are the same shape. some more defined. The batch of blanks for the stamping could have changed. That is the beauty of these war relics. I will continue to work your question.
