I recall spending roughly $.25/round around 2009. I have a receipt somewhere I can't bear to throw away.

I know the smell. Love it . Got a similar smell when I popped open one of my CMP 30 cal. ammo cans full of boxed LC Ball Carbine Caliber .30 M1. Just wished I had bought more than 2. Stuff runs great in my CMP Carbines.

You can't leave everything for future collectors to enjoy!
+1!

Good for you, Doug....opening up spam cans is a "magical" experience. I opened up all of my cans and transferred the ammo to .50 cal cans in order to monitor condition...it ain't gonna last forever.

You gonna put some of that ammo through your TE M1D?

I m working on a 400 rnd can of FA 60 Match right now. Beautiful /accurate ammo. I'll be shooting it at the NE Games in a couple weeks through M1 and 03A3.
And LC 71 .30 carbine though the Underwood. I love shooting original USGI ammo, and it smells so damn good!
