Default Rack grade specials

If your looking for a good shooter and not worried about aesthetics, this is a good deal.

Well, that certainly is an aggressive price point.
New barrel & new CMP walnut; a lot of effort on the CMP's part for less revenue tho.

Do they now have that many receivers of that low a grade, or do people think they may be downgrading receivers that would have previously been their Field Grade Specials ?
(i.e. to reduce complaints - under promise, over deliver; that sort of thing.)

Was curious about this too. Seems a lot of effort lately to make "Specials".
Wish regular Rack Grades would make a come-back.

I'm in for one, I don't have a Criterion tipped .30-06 M1 and I'd like to give it a whirl. You can't lose at this price. Great gateway drug for new buyers. Might end up putting an adjustable gas plug on it and go deer hunting.

I have a .30-06 Special and it's a real tack-driver. It's my favorite rifle, and that includes some nice "hunting" rifles that I prefer it to.

I'm interested in one of these, I'd like to see what one looks like before I get one though, especially since it says heavy pitting above the wood line.

That looks pretty good for a good shooter at a great price.

I think it is because of the condition of the Phillipines returns.

Well I am going to bite. Keep my corrected M1 for enjoyment/pass down and mild shooting. Use the Rack Grade Special for the heavy lifting of practice and matches.
