Default Military use of 12 gauge Tracer ?

Do any of you have data you can provide regarding whether the military used tracer rounds in the 12 gauge shotguns during or post WWII? Seems like I read somewhere that they were used in training bomber crewmen in aerial gunnery but, I cannot find an actual reference to it in the publications I have (Canfield's "United States Combat Shotguns" and "TM 9-285 Shotguns, All Types September 21, 1942"). Thanks in advance.

They did use tracer shotshells. Check out this thread for info and pictures of Remington 12ga Military tracer.
