Default WTS: Springfield Armory November 1942 - all WWII

I have owned this Springfield Armory M1, serial number 965195, since 1997. It is mostly correct for a November 1942 Springfield, except for the barrel. The barrel is a WWII Winchester with the drawing number D35448 W.R.A. on the top under the hand guard. It does not have chrome around the gas port.

When I initially bought it, my plan was to sell the Winchester barrel for enough to buy a nice correct 10/42 SA barrel and “restore” the rifle. While I have had the opportunity, I have always hesitated to undo the unique history of the rifle. I don’t know how it ended up with a Winchester barrel, but it appears to have been done long ago.

It has an unmodified 3 SA curved face op rod, 12 SA bolt, 12 SA trigger housing, 3 SA hammer, and 9 SA hammer. The stock is an EMcF. There is a old tight repaired crack on the left side of the receiver and a small chip on the heel. It has a single slot gas cylinder lock screw, a short fork riveted follower rod and lock bar sights.

SOLD>>>>Was $1500 now reduced to $1400 SOLD>>>>plus shipping and insurance, must ship to C&R or other appropriate FFL.

See the pictures for additional details. PM or email if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Dave

I am assuming the previous owner was a shooter and not a collector.
A lot of things can happen from 1942 to 1997.
Nice rifle!

Default My June 42 SA had a Win barrel too

My first Garand purchased about five years ago was a six digit SA, June of 42, like yours that also had a Winchester barrel with the same stamping on the top.

It also had a NM Op Rod, WRA trigger housing, HRA bolt and a Winchester stock that had the grenade sights on it at one time.

I could tell about the story but I don't want to trample on someone's post. I just wanted to share my rifle from the same period also had the same Winchester barrel.
