The QD swivel failed, not the stud. Apparently, the sling loop itself pulled apart. I will find out more tomorrow. Good Shooting. ...

Drill a second hole and use a M14 front sling swivel, M5 button head machine screws and lock nuts. If you stay with the stud, keep an extra QD swivel and pray that the stud doesn't let go. Good Shooting. ....

UPDATE: Installed a Fulton Armory M1A Front Sling swivel as ceresco suggested and this makes me very happy!
