Like all insurance, you're paying for the peace of mind that if something unexpected happens you won't be SOL, and suffer a financial loss too.
It's a good feeling to have things that are valuable and hard to replace insured for replacement cost. Such as when I travel to CMP Games matches in another state with 4 or 5 cherished USGI rifles, easily worth $1000+ each retail, they're covered. If I mail or ship one anywhere, covered. Most of us, myself included blow a few hundred bucks a year on frivolous/ridiculous things. What we're discussing here is money well spent, imo.

Lets hope none of us ever has to file a claim but the money spent for insurance is well worth the peace of mind as Craftsman said.
