Default Anyone lose a gorilla?

You can find it working at FED-EX. The BWT just dropped off my SA SG today. I noticed a bulge and some metal protruding through the side of the box. The protective ears for the rear sight broke through not only one layer of cardboard, but the layer for the top flap also! The rear sight was cranked all the way down so other than some shinny surfaces on the sight no problems. I would hate to return this rifle, SA 3.3 Mil with a repalcement SA 12-54 barrel, ME 1 and TE 2 with very little damage or dings to the stock. Great rifle from the CMP, I am glad they use the packaging material they do.

You had me scared for a minute. Thought this might have been a ruined piece of history. Let us know how your new rifle shoots.
Regards,
John

UPDATE: upon cleaning the grease off the stock, I was saddened to see the left side of the stock is cracked clean through. The right side is the only thing holding it in one piece! It is such a beautiful stock with a clear DAS and serif "P". Does anyone know if Gorillas are a protected species in the states??? I took photos and will be sending them to Customer Service who I am sure will make it right. What a crappy day.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I have had problems with the FedEx rifle shippments also. The rifles are sliding inside the foam. Orest said a few months back that they were going to change the packaging. Doesn't sound like they did it. If they packed them like the Bayonets there wouldn't be a problem.

It seems like someone at FedEx is trying to damage the rifles.

Maybe a tie strap or 2 through 1 or both sides of form to hold rifle centered.

The kind of damage you are talking about doesn't seem incidental, but intentional and it's all too easy for a disgruntled employee who knows what's in the boxes.

Seems like an extra layer of foam would solve the problem, make the gun tighter in the box. When I got mine, I commented on how loose it seemed in the box.

Sorry to hear about this.

I got an hra sg today and all was good, 2 months ago I had anothet hra come through with a 5x5 inch chunk taken out of the top of the box, thank god for the foam or the rifle would of been damaged.

UPDATE pt.II I called CS and was greeted by Definie by "luck of the draw" and she transferred me to Phil New, after explaining the damage he is sending a return lable and he asked me to send him all three pieces of wood and he will make sure the replacement matches. Once more a very satisfying encounter with the CMP. I will return the wood in the original box so they can see the rough treatment this went through. I will post when the wood gets here.

CMP customer service is awsome, I received the replacement wood for the gorilla broken one yesterday. It is a beautifle USGI walnut. All three pieces have the matching reddish tint. No DAS but a serifed "P". I am cleaning them up today, all had lots of grease.
Thanks CMP
