Default 'Colorful' language on boards?

Is there some forum policy on this?

I put into the Advanced Search keyword one particular 4-letter word, and same word with a search wildcard token - *-a-b-c-d, which brings up all variations, and got 89 hits on the boards.

One users' name came up on 27 of the 89 hits. Same user, by the way, for which I just did the search - no surprise there.........

Default are you kidding me

I gave 22 years of my life including two combat tours to allow people the right to speak thier mind. Some people are not articulate enough to express this opinion without using colorful language. I am not a fan of this type of language, but much less a fan of more control of our speech.

I'm a USN KW Vet, but all my service was in the Atlantic. Are you two vets telling me that you really served to protect people's right to speak their mind? I didn't poll any of my ship-mates on this but, I'd bet that not one of them would have given me that answer. It sounds good to say you served for Mom, Apple Pie, The American way, and Freedom for all, but as an 18 year-old, I had only 3 things in mind. 1) Beer. 2) Girls. 3) Ummm. OK, only 2 things.

I was in 1941-1945 and never worried about free speech, however was concerned about being required to be speaking German or Japanese.

Foul language and lack of restraint in a public place / forum is not a freedom of speech issue, just bad manners and a poor reflection on the speaker.

Me too. So let's keep forum language more in line with the words that you teach your children to say - you know... speech control .

... and I served too...
