Default Tracking down VFW rifle source

I recently purchased a 1903A3 from the CMP south store. It's electropenciled 'VFW' on both the receiver and bolt. Since I know it had to have been one of the VFW buybacks, would it be possible to provide the serial #, and find out what post it came from? I'm curious about the history of this rifle, and would love to at least know some of its travels.

I would also reach out to John Beard (on the forum) as he may have inspected the rifle for the CMP. If he inspected it he might have some insights for you.

Pretty sure he didn't inspect this one - I keep my hang tags, and would remember seeing JB on one. If I can't, no big deal, would just be interesting.

Awesome, thanks! I'll see if she is willing/able to track it down.

I'd love to know what VFW post my SC 03A3 came out of.
I sure would like to thank them for talking such good care of her.
Excellent bore, no pitting. Great shooter.

I'm betting the answer is that they "got them from the Army".
