A tip to avoid scammers:
1. Ask for pictures
2. Ask for markings that they would know only if they had the part.
3. Ask for a copy of their driver's license & phone #, then look up the number. I f you get a phone number, call it to determine if it is the same person.
4. If it is a Garand, ask him for the numbers & letters on the right leg, then check it against the numbers in Duff's books.
5. If it is a gun, insist that he take it to an FFL dealer to transfer it. Offer to pay the fee-he may hesitate if he has to pay.
6. Report any attempted scams.
7. Engage him in conversation about the The firearm whose part it is. -most scammers will not know anything about it.
8. I had a guy answer my ad for Garand triggers. He had 10 for $100 each!
Needless to say, I knew right away that he was a phony.

In this day and age with all of the scammers proliferating on the forums you just have to really do your due diligence when entering into an agreement. It is always best to buy from trusted partner if you have developed a past history and track record with that individual. Check their feedback and see if they are active members of the forum in good standing etc. I would be very suspicious of posters with little to no feedback.

My general rule is if it sounds to good to be true then it most likely is.

Buyer beware is the best advise.

I would never give any a copy of drivers license to except maybe Drs offices and even then I do not like it. You can look at the license, but no ID number. Phone number is fine since I have about 15-20 spammers calling me daily anyway.
