Default New Member -- in Woodbridge, VA

Hi,

I am a new member to everything.. to CMP, to getting my M1 Garand, etc.

As I am a new member to the Garand Collectors Association (GCA), I wanted to know if there were other GCA members or experienced M1 Garand shooters in Woodbridge, VA local area.

As I am a definite "newbie" -- I wanted to know if there were "more knowledgeable, experienced" M1 shooters.

I called the GCA and they told me to go to the CMP Forum and "ask" --since they cannot legally give me that information (due to Privacy issues).

My email address: skwchock@netscape.net

Thank you.

Stephen Chock

Welcome aboard. There is much to be learned here. If you have a question, do not be afraid to ask. I am constantly amazed at the knowledge that is available here.

Welcome from a former Woodbridge/Lake Ridge resident. If you are eligible Quantico Shooting Club is a great place to meet folks.

Thank you for the warm welcome messages. I definitely want to meet other M1 Garand owners. As a "newbie," I have much to learn-- and reading the tech manuals are really difficult to understand. For example, the trigger assembly, I must not be doing the "palm squeeze" right, because I have hard time trying to get the pin into the hole to secure the spring. Very Frustrating .. I need an "expert" to show me what I am doing wrong.

Welcome to the forum Stephen, as well as to the Garand community...congratulations on your first!

You could try a post in the Ask Each Other section to see if there is anyone nearby...that section gets alot more visibility and I'm sure someone will step up as I know we have lots of members in that area.

As far as the trigger, here is a thread with some tips and suggestions...believe it has a video as well:
http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=44883

As you'll see, one of those little $3-$5 clamps from Harbor Freight or Lowes makes a big difference...

Good luck and again, welcome...
Rob
