Default .224 Clark

Hello everyone! Hope you guys are getting range time!

An older gentleman is thinning his safe and is giving me a .224 Clark rifle with a Shilen barrel. After some googling, it looks like a bit of challenging rifle to make ammo for. But it also shows promise. I will be getting it on Monday or Tuesday.

Have any of you guys worked with this platform? Any advice would be appreciated.

Josh

Default Barrel Burner

Way over-bored wildcat that is definitely a barrel burner. If it is a nice rifle / action, I would recommend rebarreling to the parent cartridge, Remington 6MM.

I never heard of it but it looks like a fun cartridge.

Assuming it is the 1:9 twist then the 80 to 90gr Match bullets should work and it should be a wind besting round. After you burn the barrel out you can decide to go with something else.

I was accused of burning up a 243 with 55gr BTs at over 4000fps but a few years later she is still MOA or better and picking off a groundhog at 500 yards makes the eventual cost of a new barrel worth it.

I understand that this rifle was not shot in many years. I’ll post some pictures.

Parent of the 6mm Rem would be the 7x57, to give perspective.
