The advantage to 2 and 8, you can scope your target when you are doing the mag change and make sight adjustment if necessary. Many times a shooter can save some points doing that.

You can do that if you load 5 and 5. In fact, you can look at your target (or monitor) anytime you want during the rapid. Looking can save you some points--just make sure you are looking at the correct target. Good Shooting. ......

Certainly didn’t mean to imply that you can’t scope any time, if your group is a little off after 2 shots you have 8 left that maybe you can center up. I have reached the age where I don’t compete anymore, just what most shooters did when I was competing.

I tried to do this once with one of my my Navy team M14s, not in a match obviously. It took all of my weight to force five rounds of LC A-171 into the magazine from the charger. Not recommended procedure.

I managed to get a stripper clip pushed into a Mauser mag - not during a timed match, though.
