Default Friday opening report

So much for the West Store information being correct. I have confirmed that there are rifles present at store for restock, told Wednesday by store staff after making the trip out that there was NO restock scheduled!!!

There was ONE customer at opening and the racks were full.

NM SA SG, 2, with USGI stocks with DAs, NM op rods, 274xxxx and 581xxxx. 2535.00

CMP Specials, 7

WRA SG 2, FG 11

IHC FG 1, RG 4

SA FG 16, RG 1

HRA FG 3

Other rifles remain about the same as yesterday.

Full box slings and two 1907 leather slings, dated WWI.

Good luck on your searches.

There were 32 rifles present and there has been no restock..

SA FG, 10. Two low numbers 484xxx, 629xxx.

They don’t have to be replaced. CMP is opening crates and they have no idea what’s inside. A “rifle” can simply be a barreled receiver. There may be no stock to start with or the stock isn’t serviceable. All the Greek and Danish return rifles went to Greece and Denmark with USGI stocks, and many came back with “Greek” stocks or in the case of “woodless Danes”, none at all.

I was at the store this morning. There really wasn’t much to write home about. What USGI wood there was is borderline firewood. There was a decent 3 mil Field Grade that probably had the original barrel. The tag was mismarked 43 but it was a 45 barrel. I passed and only bought a handful of slings. One was a khaki sling sitting on top that was missing the flat keeper so if anyone has an appropriate keeper to part with let me know. One of the 3 OD slings has a flat keeper too.

Tom,

My son and I purchased two really fine International Harvesters at CMP West store today. LMR barrels, IHC bolts, IHC op rods and a lot of International Harvester parts. One even had a complete trigger group that was International Harvester. Muzzle of one and a throat of two on one, and a muzzle of 2 and throat of 2 on the other. CMP wood, but that is fine.

As always enjoyed seeing you at the store this afternoon. As Rick told you this afternoon, I also enjoyed your article in the GCA 2018 Spring Journal. If you have not read it, you need to.!

Richard

P.S. I won't even mention the Toyota this time!

Congratulations on your finds, sound like you found a couple of gems.
It’s always nice to visit with you guys and others I have met while visiting the store so often. Never know who you will run into or what you may find at the stores. This little job has turned into an interesting hobby. Lots of fun.
