Lightning Strikes Twice in Georgia. It is the Spring 2018 GCA Journal that just come in the mail. I do not think it is online. Sorry to be off Topic.

Do you remember if the SA 31457 was a FG or RG?

South Store Score! I was on the way to the D Day Action Rifle Match and stopped by the store. I so wanted a garand (I'm currently garandless), but couldn't afford one at the time. I did see that low ser# Field grade, but still had to pass.

I did however hope to get one of the 16" bayonets. A knowledgeable guy said I would be better off buying from ebay as the 16" that they had were not in good shape and didn't come with scabbards and weren't the cheapest. I'm good at playing dumb so I did it again and asked what the going rate of ebay bayos were - 250 for decent condition without scabbard and 350 in good shape with scabbard (perfectly in line from my previous research).

So... I asked the lady behind the counter and low and behold they had 4 left, no scabbards. Price was $158. Bring them out and I'll take a look see. Picked this one and pretty pleased. Another guy there also picked one as well. They have 2 left, both PALs and '42 or '43 depending on which one the other guy got. I think there were three '42s and one '43. Anyway, a few small chips, but nothing major. Not the absolute best condition, but FAR better price and condition than I've seen at local gun shows.

Nice to meet you 'Newageroman' and I am glad that you asked about the 16" bayonets. I thought they were sold out long ago so I jumped at the chance to buy one. They were all sold within 30 minutes of you leaving the store.

I had a great store visit this weekend. The selection of rifles at the South Store and the West Store were great. The West store had a lot of nice IHC's. I saw one 600K Springfield with an original May 1942 barrel...the only rub was it swallowed the CMP ME gauge.

The staff at the stores was outstanding as usual. I really appreciate Mr. Rizzo's help in finding the right rifle for me. And it was great to see the store staff regulars: Mike, Chad, Taska, and Bridgette.
