Default Winchester Lee M1895 6mm ammo

Kind of went about this backwards. Picked up a box of Winchester Lee 6mm ammo and now need to find a M1895 Winchester Lee rifle to go with it.

You certainly scored a rare box of ammo... Now try to find the rifle to go with the ammo...

Little over a year ago I stumbled across a Win Lee-Navy sporter at a rural auction. At least I can shoot it as it was rebored and rechambered for 7x57mm Mauser.

That is the goal. I’m on the hunt for a USN marked version, which makes it that much more challenging.

Morphy’s and Rock Island have a few coming up for auction later this month so I may be in luck. One is marked with USN and the other not, with the prices reflecting the difference.

I found a source that provides ammo for the 6mm Navy using a spitzer bullets but not something you can load using the clips.

The straight pull bolt takes some getting used to. Shot a friend of mine’s rifle using his reloads and getting past the muscle memory of my other bolt guns took some effort.

If you ever get tired of holding onto the ammo ...
