Default New Guy From Kansas

Howdy All,
I am TacoFrank from Kansas.
I've been an avid hunter, shooter, and re-loader for about 50 years.
Life Member NRA.
I've been bitten by the Garand bug and just recently bought a CMP Springfield "Rack Grade" with a CMP orange/red stock from a friend who is Garand poor..
Darkened the stock, put four hand rubbed coats of B.L.O. one her, and sighted her in. She's spot on!
Wow ! I've run about a 100 rounds of Greek ammo through her without a hitch.
Time to order more ammo from the CMP.
Love this rifle.
TacoFrank

Taco, where did you get that name?

Welcome.

Yes, now is the time to stockpile your Garand ammo. Buy any you can, and the checkbook will allow.

I'm near Junction City. Where you located?

George

I love tacos. I grew up in Shawnee. St Joseph High Grad. 1967. It moved to OP years ago, new name.

I moved out west in 1987 after many years in the Army.

Still have a son and grandsons in Bonner Springs. KC got too big for me, moved to to country, might need to move out again.

Have one taco on me. They are best with deer meat.

Got to leave again. Wife on my butt because I did not pick apples for her yesterday.

She wants to dry some, well a lot.

At least she is at work until 7 PM. Got a little time to recover.

Someone has to work.

Garands, have a few. When I want to shoot, I go to the Fort Riley range on Sat or Sun, training permitted.

We got a range available sometime almost ever weekend, with great volunteer range officers. It is kept up by range control. Nice range. Out to 300 yards. They do open a 1000 yard range now and then.

I do need to get my guns registered again so I can get back out there.

Try six grandsons.

I've never shoot at Fort Riley. I have a friend who lives there (Retired Major) who like shooting there.
I set up my Garand and banged targets out to 500 yards last Saturday. These rifles are a hoot to shoot.
Six grandsons ! Wow ! That's awesome !

Welcome to the forum TF and congrats on the first Garand (I assume)! That's a nice rack grade to be hitting targets out to 500 yards...you should post some photos in the M1 Garand section.
Lived in Wichita for a while and spent some time visiting friends up in KC and Overland Park...nice area. You'll find plenty others here bitten by the same bug, just don't come looking for a cure!

Regards,
Rob
