I hear CJ runs a great High Power match and would like to shoot there next summer. I would be coming from PA and am not familiar with the gun laws of NJ.

When I go to Perry, I simply toss my AR in a soft case, put my 20 round magazines in my shooting stool, toss some ammo in MTM plastic boxes, and put it all in the hatch back of the car.

What is required if I head East across the river?

has to be locked up, no 20rd's allowed, 15 is max, and ammo must be in a sealed container separate of the weapon, also make sure you have your FID if PA requires one, in Jersey your more or less guilty and you have to prove your self innocent, but it also depends on the cop who pulls you over, some are cool as long as your not bent up, but most of the younger cops don't know much, also don't say anything unless asked.

best way to get your firearms taken away by the police is to open your mouth. So stay quiet, and if anything ask for a lawyer.

I was under the impression that if you are not a NJ resident with proper "papers", that you cannot posses firearms of any kind, period. NYS Troopers are not allowed to continue chase into NJ, due to the firearm laws. With that said has any of the laws in NJ changed to allow a non-resident to bring firearms into NJ??

                Thanks,
                Steve

Go to the first post in this thread and click on the link for Central Jersey rifle and pistol club. There are several links on the home page regarding NJ gun transportation laws.

                    David,

Thank you for the heads up, it looks that there is a provision for traveling to and from NJ. Also I am curios about the "FID" for non-residents, what would the advantage be to get one? I am assuming traveling to and from the guns would have to be locked, would the FID allow to just for traveling with the guns just unloaded?

                    Thanks,
                    Steve

best to lock them up as well, ive heard of some interesting stories at the range about troops, cops and firearms in this great Socalist republic of new jersey.

ALWAYS remember, in the repressive republic of NJ,the POLICE make, and are above the law. What is written is NOT what they may do or enforce, gun laws are subject to the whim of a police officer or a directive by the AG/state police.
Travel safely and obey the MV regs.. AND don't advertise that you may have GUNS !!! No progun stickers,etc.. This is probable cause in NJ to stop&search.(personal note;stopped for having targets&stands in P/U,told that that was suspision I may have illegal guns in my vehicle. ????)
Gave him a sad day, only had IPSC targets for home club use, didn't have any NO NOs !!
