Someone wanted it to look new and with more accurate sites. It looks real nice but, unfortunately it lost any collectors value with the changes. IMHO

they look to be like the modifications that the famous Elmer Keith had performed on his Colt single actions -

guesstimate of value?
Well under retail.... me...I quit collecting because of the know it alls who didnt know it all. Its worth what someone is willing to pay...I think is a functional pistol although I never liked adj sight on a pistol..I shoot point of aim and use the barrel/Slide as my ref. I would give $700.00 for it...the price of a nice older Ruger SA.

Wow they did a number on that old girl. Might make a functional cowboy action shooter. It all depends on if they messed with the action and timing. That hammer has been heavily buffed and makes me worried about the internals. 500-700 I could see, thought I’d never touch it. But someone who does re-enactments might just find it their fancy.

looked again - modification to sight+ hammer look just like the ones that Howard Croft was building for Elmer Keith in 1929 - he made several for Keith + many others then - his modifications were covered in American Rifleman back then -

Wise man doesn't know all the answers but where to find them. Give it a go at the Colt Collectors Association and see what they say. I must say I've never seen such modifications to the front and rear sights. Replaced hammer looks to be like that on what is called a "slip gun". I concur with the barrel, reblue/almost Parkerizing-like finish modifications. What caliber? Might have some value i/c/w 1st generation Colt SAA parts such as cylinder, frame and internals, ejector rod housing, ejector, etc...
