Default IHC, where did it come from?

I have a 4.57 that isn't in the list here and CMP Research show they didn't sell it either. I got a email from them 5/16 stating they were combining the DCM sales paperwork into their database and would answer the no letter serial numbers when finished (around 1/17) but haven't heard anything yet.

My question is if DCM or CMP didn't sell it then who else may have???
Thanks in advance!

It could still be a DCM sale rifle, from my understanding the records are not complete especially for older sales. You didn't say how you acquired it; LGS, gun show, individual sale, but I suppose it is always possible it could have been one of the imports that someone changed the barrel on to get rid of the import stamp. I think there were sales also to police agencies at one time.

The SA on the receiver leg is Springfield Armory. Like I said it could be still a DCM rifle that just isn't documented. Sounds like a nice example.

Just checked my list, I have an IHC Collector Grade I got from the CMP in 1999 that is about 900 numbers lower than yours. These are very interesting rifles, and a 60s rebuild is also nice to have. Think you did ok on this one.

I would really like to have pictures of this rifle for my rebuild database as well as to be able to enter it into the IHC Serial Number List that is a sticky.
Any way you can PM me so we can discuss pictures?
Or post some here of the interesting details.

Rob

Is their an importers name stamped on the barrel anywhere. Import restrictions were lifted in the 80s for sales to law enforcement, (loophole closed later). A lot of IHCs were reimported then and sold to law enforcement agencies and their people. Import regs required the importer's name stamp be placed on the barrel. Check it over and let us know.

No import stamps anywhere. LMR barrel with normal markings.
