Congratulations dawgmanvt on the rifle. Sounds like a nice one. Hope you can get some pics posted. I'd sure like to see it.

My one and only Garand is 4,664,890. I received it from CMP about 2 1/2 years ago. I asked them for something that I could be proud of, and that's what they sent me. It has the Hart trigger group with an HRA safety, Hart trigger-guard, and a -9 SA hammer. It has the ampersand anomaly, 4-53 HRA barrel, SA6 op-rod, HRA elevation and DRC windage knobs, HRA-O gas cylinder plug, HRA and an HRA bolt. I think it might be a near correct rifle, except I'm not sure about the rest of the internals or the stock. It has an unmarked GI stock, but still has the big back porch. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell if it's really correct though. I'm not sure what else to look at. I was hoping to catch Canfield at one of our show, and bring it up and let him look at it.

In my list of early HRA's there are three, including mine, that are in the 4,667,... range with Hart trigger groups. Mine is the latest I've seen(4,667,650 with correct Hart parts and SA-5 hammer). At this point HRA trig groups were probably being blended in and you could expect to find correct HRA rifles with both manufacturers. This is my theory.

Gorgeous rifle! You are lucky!

I received 4,661,216 from the CMP as my first Garand. It was almost correct. I had to hunt down a 3/8 DAS stock, the Hart TG and a front sight... Took me almost 2 years to find the stock!

That is a fine looking rifle. I've been collecting H&Rs for over 30 years and I'd be happy to have that one in my own collection.

I have a rather late 4665807 with an Ordnance Wheel Stock and Hart Trigger Group.

Hard to believe the CMP did’t auction that one off! Wanna play the lottery together? Great rifle, congrats!

Hey, congrats and welcome to the club! I received 466449X as one of two on my first purchase. I believe the rear site assembly, gas cyl assembly and barrel are original. Trigger group is WWII SA parts in a SA 12 housing and a SA op rod. Came in CMP wood. The other rifle is a 3.7 SA in a HRA stock with a HRA op rod and a HRA-N housing with WWII Springfield internals...go figure!! By the way, anybody know which GCA magazine has the early HRA article..? Thanks and congrats again on your fine rifle!
