Default It's loud!

I shot my m1a scout squat for the first time about 2 weeks ago, & that sucker is loud! Aside from that, recoil is almost nothing, & the thing isn't bad on accuracy. I recently got a cheek pad for it (it's scoped) & it made a lot of difference.

I picked a "scout" NIB at an auction some time ago. The accuracy was really disappointing until I removed the cheap plastic stock and replaced it with a bedded GI stock. Group size cut in half. Good Shooting. ...

I actually got mine about three years ago on an auction. It has the walnut stock, which is some of the appeal of the gun for me. The thing looked brand new, had the Springfield Next Gen scope mount on it, & a descent 3x9-40 scope. I deer hunted with it last year, & never saw anything worth shooting. Damn good thing. I didn't have a chance to shoot it until this year, & the scope was off about 14" to the left, & about 10" high.

I put a "Tanker" version together (18 1/2" bbl), with a Springfield muzzle brake on it. Fired 5 shots and took the brake off. I use foam earplugs and earphones, and it was loud even though those.

I think the way muzzle brake discharges, helps with recoil, but throws a lot of the sound out to the side also. I'm ok with it, but was just surprised the first time I shot it.
