Default Mag pouch question

Just acquired a stock mag pouch. It seems to me the male button on the inside of the sleeve will scratch the stock. Is it prudent to put a small piece of electrical tape over the button before installing the pouch on the stock?

I think guys (and gals) put a little duct tape on them. I've wondered why I haven't seen carbine stocks badly scarred from them....but it may lend to the reason so many mfg stamps (cartouches) are missing.

I highly recommend putting something over the snap to protect the stock. Self-sticking felt, such as used on the bottom of chairs to protect floors will work. Duct tape will also work, but may leave an ugly residue on the canvas fabric if you ever need to remove it.

Do not remove the snap from the pouch itself. You will damage the canvas material, thus de-valuing the pouch if you ever want to sell it. Also looks rather ugly on the stock.

I was thinking electrical tape as there is less chance of leaving adhesive residue and it's easier to remove than duct tape. Thanks for your help.

In the "by the way" department, I recall reading some time ago that they weren't originally made to go on the stock. Hence the design problem.

Only a bunch of GIs would think of adapting a belt mag pouch to a Carbine stock. But that's the kind of thinking that won the war for us isn't it?
Tape the snap with a piece of moleskin or other non-sticky substance.
By the way, if you regularly shoot your Carbine, you'll find that the stock pouch looks really neat but really screws up the great balance of the little rifle.
