Default Opinions on this S&B 308

I have this crate that I purchased in the late 90s. Is this ammo any good?

I've used S&B handgun ammo and it's been good. As long as your ammo was stored properly, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be fine. If you'd like, you can send it to me. I'll test it for you and send the brass back!

If that's the stuff I think it is, it was good but corrosive. Not really an issue with a Garand, just clean accordingly. Did it come from Samco?

Eli
I am not sure I purchased a bunch of ammo from a neighbor when he PCS'd because he was over his weight limit!

If the numbers of 1/95 in the corner of the label was a manufacture date, I would be surprised if it is corrosive.

I think that was the import date, not manufacture date. Here's a web archive link to the stuff I think it is: https://web.archive.org/web/20111124...o-308-win.html

I was thinking the S&B military surplus sold sometime back was corrosive as well. If it wasn't made until 1-95 I doubt it would have been on the surplus market when the op bought it in the late 90's.

Good shooting Czech ammo but Berdan/Corrosive for sure.

I was a SAMCO distributor in that era. Got plenty of that ammo, shot some, ran controlled tests on those primers.
