I recently got a kick in the nuts over on the Firing Line Forum classifieds, One strike for putting an add saying that Elmer Balance had National Match Stocks for sale, and another strike for putting a price drop without leaving the original price, told me one more and I am banned

Precisely for those reasons, I mainly lurk over there. Just a few days ago I became a member after looking for the better part of a year. If I have a question I use the Search function, then ask if that is the last option.

It is far too easy to be a jerk when you are not face to face. Sad but true...

I have one in the 091XXX serial range (mid 1995 made) and the only parts that are SAI are the receiver and stock. The rest of the parts are USGI from all the manufacturers. I would be surprised if the one you posted is not similar. If the flash hider has a bayonet lug, it was put on later.

$1100-1400 would be my SWAG on a fair price, not knowing anything else about it.

Thanks Rusty, for the SWAG; hopefully this one is as nice as yours.

With the sling that is on it, and just eyeballing the wood, it could be a NM rifle.

Once you see is, does it have NM sights and bedding? Rear lug?

Secondly, if it is full of USGI parts that would make me smile if i was looking to purchase.

Update - received some info from SA:

"Your rifle, serial number 096866, was manufactured as part number MA9102 (Standard M1A .308 rifle with New Walnut stock) in May of 1996."

Default Sense or cents;

This is a great idea. Too bad there are so many that don't understand what you are talking about.

(I edited, or shortened your original post, just for the meat.)

Its not like we're calculating the trajectory of the space shuttle's re-entry path, or someone's going to be hauled into court because they gave a rough estimate on the value of a rifle that turned out to be wrong.

FYI I saw a new on in a big box retail store for $1600 yankee dollars. I paid $1000 for my NM in 1989 so I concur a price point between $1000 and $1600 would be fair unless it got a lot of GI parts on it.

$1100 would be a good buy, if I was buying. If I was the seller I certainly wouldn't take $1100. $1200 minimum and up depending on GI parts.

Thanks for everyone's input; I ended up paying $1150. The rifle is in great shape and came with a number of USGI magazines. Here she is after a couple coats of Tom's 1/3 mix:
